Next to Granada, Motril is the most populated city of the province, thanks to its port and export of agricultural goods. It is also part of the tourist market in Granada Province. There are beaches in Motril and businesses that seem to keep growing, on the Calle Nueva or in Rambla de Capuchinos. On the intersection of the Avenida Salobreña and Avenida Andalucia, the Virgen de la Cabeza Sanctuary remains intact. It was built over an old, Arabic castle. It has a baroque style and its monument was used for a franciscan convent and also as the Palacio Episcopal. |
