One of the natural jewels that the Sierra Nevada possesses is the Laguna Mulhacen. The Sierra Nevada in the Province of Granada, Spain, has heights of over 3000 metres, which makes it one of the highest peaks in Western Europe, besides the Alps. The Pico de Mulhacen (3,481 metres) constitutes the ceiling of the Iberian Peninsula. In it are numerous glacial lagoons, one of them being the Laguna de Altera, the highest of them all at 3,146 metres. |
