In the center-eastern area of the Province of Granada, there is a more humid climate. The area of the Sierra de Baza is 52,337 hectares and affects 4 municipalities: Baza, Caniles, Gor, And Valle de Zalabi.

With high mountain characteristics and heights that reach above 2,000 m, the vegetation of the Sierra de Baza is distributed into bioclimactic floors. In it coexist native Mediterranean forests, and forests of pines that are due to repopulation. The fauna of this natural habitat is varied. There are royal eagles, rat eagles, Egyptian vultures, and others. There are mountain lions, badgers, and genets.
